My own presentation shares research on the nature of innovation in Rowing and the challenges of developing an innovation in rowing. Drawing on over two hundred interviews conducted at Henley Royal Regatta, my presentation explores the complex nature of innovation in rowing and the challenges of its development. These interviews revealed how innovation continues to be a two-sided coin, both a threat to existing methods, structures and understandings, but also offers us an opportunity to increase design and performance capabilities of our sport. My presentation looks at the theoretical and practical approaches to innovation, offering insights on how rowing programs may be better aligned with the performance potential of innovation, Ai, and future technologies.
